About this artwork
In Flux I explore the fragile architecture of identity as something perpetually shifting rather than fixed or complete. Two faces emerge and dissolve simultaneously, suspended in a liminal space where individuality and transformation coexist in constant negotiation.
The work captures a moment of becoming — a psychological landscape where memory, perception, and emotional experience continuously reshape the self. Through fragmented portraiture and… fluid painterly gestures I challenge the notion of identity as stable, suggesting instead that human consciousness exists in a permanent state of transition.
Soft chromatic transitions, ethereal textures, and partially erased forms create a visual tension between presence and disappearance. The figures appear both intimate and unreachable, as if caught between internal reflection and external reality.
Denys Molerio is a Cuban painter with a strong academic background, working primarily in figurative painting to investigate identity and human nature. He masterfully combines realism, symbolism, and subtle surrealist touches, using layered compositions and muted palettes to create atmospheres charged with introspection. His work evokes emotional depth, highlighting vulnerability, alienation, and the invisible battles within the human psyche, inspiring viewers to explore the complexities beneath the surface of self. Graduated with honors from San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and Institute Superior of Arts (ISA) in Havana. A member of the Cuban National Union of Visual Artists. Participant in the international (X and XI) Biennale in Havana with his own exhibitions “ Arquitectura de la Vida” in 2009 and personal show “ Habits” in 2012. Many national and international exhibitions; e.g “Living room of Southeast “ Lyon, France in the “Gallery Maison Dauphins” Lyon, France.
