Dispersal explores how a dense painted gesture gradually breaks apart across the surface. Areas of deep Prussian blue shift into fragments, traces and faint impressions, becoming increasingly dispersed across the paper.
The open space is an active part of the composition, allowing the pigment to move between density and near-disappearance. The work focuses on this transition, from concentrated presence to scattered traces.

Els Devrieze
Belgium
Els Devrieze is a Belgian painter whose work explores intensity, stillness, and the physical presence of paint.
Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, she builds layered surfaces that function as inner landscapes rather than literal depictions. Her practice is driven by intuition and material engagement, allowing tension and balance to emerge through texture, color, and restraint.
Devrieze’s work invites sustained looking, offering space for reflection without prescribing a fixed narrative.
