About this artwork
This painting "Pebble Nest 1" belongs to a series that I made following the observation of birds' nests in nature.
Indeed, to protect their eggs from predators, wild birds need to lay eggs with "camouflage" colors that match the colors of the environment in order to be invisible. The colors, the graphics, the aesthetics of these shells often recall those of certain stones, certain pebbles, their round shapes also make us think of them.
Based on… this reflection, I wanted to paint this similarity, this look at these eggs/pebbles, like precious jewels nestled in a nest and created by birds in the heart of wild Nature.
Inspired since his childhood by the beauty of Nature, colors and drawing, François d'Ardailhon became a painter using acrylic in figurative after thirty years of experience in oil abstraction. Adopting techniques such as pouring and dripping, he developed a "bio-organic" style simulating the sublime textures and colors of nature. His works celebrate the precious and threatened essence of nature, creating a soothing universe because it is connected to ourselves.
