About this artwork
I started visiting Morocco in my late teens. On one occasion I spent close to five months in the port city of Tangier making inland journies to explore this amazingly diverse country further. Not too long ago I re-visited the country again. This painting took explicitly the variations on the colour red found often in Berber (also known as Amazigh people) rug making traditions. these masterful works. In the end an image of a man established itself in the top right corner. It is also a memory-portrait of a dear man called Amed, a Berber I knew many, many years ago.
