About this artwork
This lagoon cedar has stood its ground against water, wind and time. Its trunk, whose side branches grotesquely reach upwards, has lost its center. Nevertheless, it is firmly rooted in the lagoon and the left branch now forms the crown. The sky can be felt through the dark tangle of needles.
The view extends over the yellow reeds into the distance. On the left, it highlights a small cedar tree whose trunk opens like a gate.
But the eye-catcher… remains the bizarre, grotesque figure in the foreground - furrowed, hollowed out, rounded. The brightest part of the middle of the tree reinforces the contrast to the reflection. This seems to be tangible.
A very dense, colour-reduced implementation of an unusual tree personality.
