About this artwork
In the small birch grove high up on the mountain, a strong storm had snapped a mighty branch off the ancient sweet chestnut tree. The splintered and frayed wood was a painful sight.
"Like wings" it now dominates - pushed diagonally into the picture - this artistic interpretation.
The trunk, with its bizarrely shaped bark, extends almost to the center of the image. Delicately swaying birch trunks form the backdrop on this forest stage.
For imagination… has made the branch the main character: a cheeky bird's head ("Spotted Harrier") turns towards the viewer. The bird proudly displays its plumage, which echoes the colors of the wood. The tail feathers, magnificently shaped, sweep from dark tones in a semicircle to lighter ones to the right.
The magic of the forest in delicate natural tones – contrasts of hard and soft are dissolved. Wood and feathers are tangible in a tactile experience...
