About this artwork
The lord of the roosters shows himself self-confident with his beloved animals:
His pride and joy is the white rooster, which gives him knightly adornment with his plume of tail feathers.
The colorful rooster on the left turns its head dominatingly to the right. Unaffected by the display, a brown rooster pecks in the left corner of the picture.
Between the upper roosters, a small, narrow toy rooster from Apulia (Italy) sets a different accent.… It is made of painted terracotta, as is the magnificent, proud rooster in the foreground on the right. It is traditionally considered a lucky charm in Portugal. A glass rooster appears behind it.
The small rooster in the middle of the right edge of the picture concludes the series of natural roosters and some made of different materials. It is a wooden handicraft from Bali (Indonesia).
An overall composition that shows the connection between humans and animals through the weaving of head and beard hair.
