About this artwork
The brightness and lightness of the atmosphere of a southern garden is transmitted to us.
The bizarre shape of a fig tree fades into the background before the beauty of the iris blossoms. They stand directly in front of the viewer.
The fig tree, whose cut-out leaves suggest the sky, plays an important role in the composition. Its center is in the middle of the picture, arched over by a sweeping branch. While its left half lets two iris blossoms… rise up like a ladder, a single, exceptionally beautiful blossom shines on the right.
In this special variety, each petal has its own beauty. The golden glow of the interior is a lure for the bees. Two more buds are waiting for their moment to open. We experience the lush splendor of a southern garden.
With the hand-carved frame, the picture measures 68 cm x 86 cm.
