About this artwork
This is an abstraction from the bark of a silver birch tree.
The way the bark peels and twists is fascinating and I found it a source of inspiration for further experimentation with layers of images, blending together with new shapes and new colours derived from the original birch bark
There is something very calming about the delicacy of the twirl.
