About this artwork
In covid times when travel was restricted I wasn't able to reach my usual subjects.
The silver birch tree has always been a favourite of mine, and there were a number growing near my house. This is an abstraction from the bark of a silver birch tree. The way the bark peels and twists is fascinating and I found it a source of inspiration for further experimentation with layers of images, blending together with new shapes and new colours derived from… the original birch bark. It is presented as a traditional paper print, but could on request be different. An acrylic presentation would give an added burst of vibrancy to the colours.
