About this artwork
Every morning, whatever the weather, I first go into my garden. I need to see my plants, notice what has changed overnight and feel the beginning of a new day. I rejoice when they are healthy and flowering, and I am fascinated by the drops of dew appearing on the grass and leaves in the early light.
These drops became the protagonists of this work — brief flashes of light and joy, signs of life awakening. Rather than copying a particular… plant or place, I wanted to capture the shared state of nature and my own inner world.
The image is composed of transparent layers of photographs of different plants, taken in my garden at various times of day. By bringing these moments together, I create a space between reality, memory and sensation. It reflects the early morning hour when the mind is still free from information and able to perceive the smallest changes in light, air and nature.

Through light, reflection, shadow and transformation, I seek to reveal the invisible presence of time and the traces it leaves behind. Working across painting, photography and moving image, I explore the hidden forces that shape nature and human experience, connecting the fleeting moment with eternity and the visible with the unseen.
Born in Novokuznetsk, Russia, in 1959, I have lived and worked in the Netherlands since 1991. I studied at the Kemerovo Regional Art Academy and the Stroganov Academy of Industrial Art and Design in Moscow, graduating with distinction.
My work has been presented in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions internationally and has received awards and nominations in international art, photography and film competitions. My artistic practice also includes books, films, lectures and commissioned portraits. My work is held in museum, public and private collections internationally.
