About this artwork
The work “Jung’s Shadow” depicts a female figure in profile, with her hair gathered at the nape of her neck. Her silhouette is outlined by precise and delicate features, which highlight the grace and femininity of the subject. In the distance, a dark shadow stands out, almost seeming to reflect the figure in the mirror. This shadow, like an echo of her being, represents the woman’s soul, the unconscious, the dark side of the personality. The work… is a reflection on the relationship between the human being and his reflected image, on the duality present in each of us. By exploring the complex and fascinating theme, such as that of the Jungian shadow, I created a suggestive and meaningful image that takes you on an introspective journey to discover your inner self. The Jungian shadow represents the personal unconscious, the hidden part of the personality that contains the negative and repressed aspects of the individual.
Nicola De Luca, an architect from Naples and an artist born in Torre di Ruggiero, expresses his mastery in drawing. Through precise lines and touches of graphite, De Luca creates female portraits of remarkable intensity. His works emanate an intense and mysterious atmosphere, capturing the essence of the human soul through expressive female faces.
