About this artwork
I created this work with the aim of transporting the observer into a dreamlike and suspended dimension. The title refers to the doctrine of reincarnation and rebirth. The young woman's face is a still image of a soul in transit, an entity that regenerates and transforms itself. The graphite technique, masterfully used by the artist, allows for the creation of a play of light and shade that shapes the young woman's face with an almost sculptural delicacy.… The face, arranged in three-quarters, emerges from the darkness with an ethereal luminosity. The shadow envelops the figure, allowing only the essential features to be glimpsed. But the gaze is the true protagonist of the work. The eyes, large and deep, stare at the observer with an intensity that is disturbing and fascinating. A gaze that seems to question, challenge, or perhaps simply seek a connection. Next to the face, the shadowy outline of a lizard adds an element of mystery and symbolism.
Nicola De Luca, an architect from Naples and an artist born in Torre di Ruggiero, expresses his mastery in drawing. Through precise lines and touches of graphite, De Luca creates female portraits of remarkable intensity. His works emanate an intense and mysterious atmosphere, capturing the essence of the human soul through expressive female faces.
