About this artwork
I created this work to immerse myself in an introspective exploration, a visual journey that descends into the depths of the soul. The bipartite division of the work, both formal and conceptual, creates a powerful spiritual visual impact. The upper part, dominated by a female face with a strong contrast between light and shadow, between visible and invisible, is an invitation to reflection. The graphite line, delicate and nuanced, gives the figure… an aura of mystery and introspection. The gaze, turned outwards, seems to seek contact, a connection that goes beyond the surface. The dim light envelops the face like a veil, suggesting a hidden inner complexity. The lower part, a chromatic extension of an intense ultramarine blue, represents the psychological abyss, the unconscious. The stylized silhouette of the woman, reduced to a miniature and placed on a silver background, becomes a symbol of fragility and vulnerability, but also of an inner strength.
Nicola De Luca, an architect from Naples and an artist born in Torre di Ruggiero, expresses his mastery in drawing. Through precise lines and touches of graphite, De Luca creates female portraits of remarkable intensity. His works emanate an intense and mysterious atmosphere, capturing the essence of the human soul through expressive female faces.
