About this artwork
The thumb bowl comes from a section of a pathological growth on a huge linden tree. This growth was roughly shaped like a hand with the thumb raised. Therefore, the section of the plate also has the silhouette of a thumb. The section was then shaped into a kind of bowl by systematic deepening, which can be presented either lying down or hanging. The lines of the wood grain are very special because, as already mentioned, it is pathologically grown,…
dried and oiled wood. The color, texture and shape also contrast with naturally grayed areas and make the work a real eye-catcher.
