About this artwork
Inspired by the iconic Cycladic figurines created in the Aegean islands during the Early Bronze Age (c. 3200–2000 BCE), Cyborg reinterprets one of humanity's earliest sculptural forms. Most of these figures have been found in graves, suggesting associations with death, remembrance, fertility, and the cycle of life. Their folded arms and simplified forms evoke stillness and the enduring mystery of human existence.
By splitting the figure open and… embedding an electronic component within its core, I transform this ancient archetype into a hybrid being—part ancestral, part machine. I use this technological intrusion to question how digital technologies are reshaping our bodies, identities, and relationships. As we become increasingly intertwined with electronic systems, Cyborg asks whether we are simply using technology—or gradually becoming inseparable from it.
