About this artwork
Inspired by the iconic Cycladic figurines created in the Aegean islands during the Early Bronze Age (c. 3200–2000 BCE), this work reinterprets one of humanity's earliest sculptural forms. The original meaning of these figures remains uncertain. Most have been discovered in graves, suggesting associations with death, remembrance, fertility, and the cycle of life.
In this sculpture, I fill the ancient form with discarded computer components—fragments… of a rapidly obsolete digital culture. Encased within the figure's body, these remnants of technological consumption become a powerful metaphor for the growing global crisis of electronic waste. The work reflects on the environmental consequences of our dependence on ever-changing devices and the pollution generated by a culture of continual upgrading and disposal. By merging an ancient archetype with contemporary technological debris, I invite viewers to consider the hidden ecological costs of modern life .
