About this artwork
Five minutes Pure instinct Leftover paint
Since 2016, I closed out most studio days by creating hundreds of my minis made in the quiet after the work is done. No brief, no revision. Whatever remains on the palette meets the canvas in real time.
This wave didn't need to be planned. It arrived when the painter steps aside and lets the practice speak.
Being En Phase (a moment of alignment) with what remains after intention falls away. The crest… holds tension between atmosphere and mass, while descending blues evoke both motion and stillness, reflecting contemporary landscape expressionism.
What matters is not what you begin with, but what you do with what's left. These end-of-day paintings are that idea in its purest form.
These miniatures are not studies but complete original works, valued by collectors for their immediacy, intimacy, and authenticity.
Original oil painting on canvas board, 8 x 8 in., ready for framing and suitable for private or gallery collections.

I paint what I feel. After a life in finance, the palette knife became my primary way of speaking, plainly, without ornament. My subject is land, sea, and sky, held less as record than as memory of standing inside them.
I work in oils, building surface until it holds weight, something to be touched as much as seen, according to those who collect my work. Whether the canvas is small enough to hold in one hand or large enough to walk into, the intention doesn't change: a place that is as much interior as it is geographical.
In my mid-70s, I look for Self in the work, a thing being entirely itself, answerable to no one. The work says what I couldn't otherwise say. What you find in it is yours.
