About this artwork
A snow-laden branch rests over a frozen pond consumed by darkness. Indigo and black hold the water in deep, still silence — no warmth, no colour, only the absolute contrast of white snow against night-dark water.
And then, almost hidden where the branch meets the ice, a single green leaf. Alive. Insistent. A whisper of persistence in a world given over to winter.
This is a painting about stillness and its opposite — the quiet interval… between surrender and return. At that moment, time holds its breath. Painted in the philosophy of Ipseity, it asks nothing of the viewer except to stop, to look, and to find themselves somewhere in that space between the dark and the light.
Quiet Interval (2) is part of About Time, my solo exhibition (July 2026) that questions how we inhabit moments — and what remains when we finally do.

I work in oils, building surface until it holds weight, something to be touched as much as seen, according to those who collect my work. Whether the canvas is small enough to hold in one hand or large enough to walk into, the intention doesn't change: a place that is as much interior as it is geographical.
In my mid-70s, I look for Self in the work, a thing being entirely itself, answerable to no one. The work says what I couldn't otherwise say. What you find in it is yours.
