About this artwork
The Displacement | Original Palette Knife Painting
"I created this landscape using the leftover palette from my larger work. In my studio, these 'minis' are spontaneous explorations of relaxation. While painting, I saw an iceberg disturbing the sea, a displacement of water over a rocky shoreline.
I used a palette knife to layer the 'glacial milk' turquoise, creating a luminous, opaque texture that contrasts with the misty, cool water break. To capture… the surge's energy, I intentionally left the edges raw.
This original oil painting is a study of force and silence. It represents a single, fleeting moment of nature’s power, captured on a scale that invites intimate reflection. A unique addition for any fine art collector."
Framed under glass in a black floating frame, the painting is gently elevated from its backing, where the raised support creates a shadow gap, pulling you into the movement of the tide.

I paint what I feel. After a life in finance, the palette knife became my primary way of speaking, plainly, without ornament. My subject is land, sea, and sky, held less as record than as memory of standing inside them.
I work in oils, building surface until it holds weight, something to be touched as much as seen, according to those who collect my work. Whether the canvas is small enough to hold in one hand or large enough to walk into, the intention doesn't change: a place that is as much interior as it is geographical.
In my mid-70s, I look for Self in the work, a thing being entirely itself, answerable to no one. The work says what I couldn't otherwise say. What you find in it is yours.
