A work created with acrylic paint on canvas. In this central composition, the world map is not painted but constructed: strips of brass recovered from mechanical processing scraps are applied to form continents and islands, creating a tactile and fragmented relief. The entire work is consolidated and polished with two-component epoxy resin, which gives the surface the transparency and sheen of a gold plate. The background, treated with textured layers… and earthy tones, acts as a negative field that brings the metallic world into focus, accentuating its monumental presence. The work plays on the paradox of transformation: what begins as industrial waste takes on a precious and reflective aura, suggesting interpretations linked to value, the memory of machines, the geography of resources, and the relationship between production and beauty. Light becomes an integral part of the work: as the viewer moves, the map changes, revealing new surfaces and reflections.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
