About this artwork
This work of mine depicts an iconic face: Frank Sinatra. I wanted to pay homage to him by using an unconventional material: small steel spheres made from scrap metal. Each sphere is a fragment of material that has already lived, and together they give rise to a new form, a new meaning.
The sheen of the metal catches the light in ever-changing ways, creating a dynamic play of reflections that changes depending on the angle. This three-dimensionality… gives depth to the face, making it almost emerge from the black background, as if Sinatra were about to come to life and sing one of his immortal melodies.
This work combines elegance and strength, memory and rebirth: a celebration of legend and the art of reinvention, just like metal that transforms from waste into beauty.
