About this artwork
Faces 21 is a portrait dissolved into shimmer—built from hundreds of hand-painted geometric fragments that flicker between form and abstraction. At 100 x 100 cm, the face is both there and not there, shifting with every glance like light on deep water.
This work pushes my concept of new cubism further into atmosphere. Cool blues, violets, and indigos dominate, punctuated by flashes of pink and pale gold. Rather than define the subject, the geometry… allows it to unfold—softly, mysteriously.
Where some faces in the series confront or burn, Faces 21 drifts. It’s not about clarity; it’s about presence felt in layers. The surface feels like memory—fragmented, luminous, and always just out of reach.
This is not a face you meet—it’s one you remember. A meditation on how identity scatters, reforms, and survives in fragments. A portrait not of one emotion, but of many moments suspended in time.
