Faces 16 continues my exploration of a “new cubism”—a contemporary, emotional take on fragmentation and perception. At 90 x 110 cm, this piece uses hand-painted polygons not just to break form, but to soften it. Faces emerge gently, layered like translucent memories—never fully stable, always in motion.
Where early Cubism dissected form to analyze, this approach allows for ambiguity and feeling. Cool blues, pale greens, and soft purples dominate… the surface, occasionally broken by sparks of warmth. These colors create a mood of emotional distance, like thought suspended in water.
The geometry is intentional but intuitive. Faces fade into one another, never fixed, as if shifting between identity and reflection. This isn’t about deconstruction—it’s about evocation.
It’s a meditation on impermanence, using form not to define but to dissolve, allowing viewers to sense emotion in the space between fragments.
