About this artwork
Die Skulptur „samsara IV“ entstand aus einem alten Kieferwurzelholz, welches der Künstler in den Bergen seiner Heimat gefunden hat.
Dieses besondere Holz hat eine ungewöhnlich kräftige, rotbraune Farbe und ist außergewöhnlich hart und schwer.
In der Skulpturenserie „samsara“ beschäftigt sich Manfred mit dem immerwährenden Zyklus des Seins, dem Kreislauf von Werden und Vergehen und dem Kreislauf der Wiedergeburten in den indischen Religionen. Aus… altem, teilweise abgestorbenen Baumstämmen und Fundstücken lässt der Künstler wieder etwas Neues entstehen.
Die Skulptur wurde durch ein eingebohrtes Stahlrohr mit der Stahlplatte (47,5 x 35 x 0,8 cm) verschweißt und zusätzlich mit Schrauben fixiert.
Die Oberfläche der Skulptur ist im oberen Bereich fein geschliffen und im unteren Bereich gebürstet. Zusätzlich wurde das Wurzelholz mit Hartwachsöl eingelassen.
Gesamtgewicht: 33,5 Kg
