About this artwork
The work “mind flow I” was glued together from many individual linden wood strips using a complex process.
Through precise, planned planning, the strips were connected to each other in such a way that they taper off irregularly towards the bottom, thereby creating a flowing dynamic.
“mind flow” was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus: “Pantha rhei” – everything flows.
Just as the water in a stream… is always moving, all things, living beings and phenomena in the world are always changing.
Everything changes and develops, nothing stays the same.
The surface of this sculpture is completely natural.
The upper area was worked with carving chisels, resulting in a smooth surface.
In contrast, the inner surfaces were roughly rasped and sanded.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
