About this artwork
The sculpture "human flow AMALTHEA" was created through an elaborate process from many individual wooden strips.
Through a precise, planned project, the strips were connected to one another in such a way that they taper off irregularly towards the bottom and thus create a flowing dynamic. The alternating combination of linden and larch wood creates a particularly attractive pattern.
"Human flow" was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural… philosopher Heraklit of Ephesus: "Pantha rhei" - everything flows.
Just as the water in the brook is always in motion, all things, living beings and appearances in the world are always changing.
Everything changes and evolves, nothing stays as it is.
"AMALTHEA" comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 79 previously known moons of Jupiter.
The surface is finely sanded and left natural.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
