About this artwork
With human flow SURTUR, Manfred Hellweger creates a sculpture that addresses the fragility and mutability of human existence. Crafted from local sycamore maple, the work consists of individually crafted wooden strips assembled to form an abstract human figure. The form tapers downwards and seemingly dissolves—a symbol of transience and transformation. This creative dissolution creates a flowing, floating impression that lends the work both lightness…

The finely sanded surface has been treated with a special wood oil that preserves the natural, light tone of the sycamore maple and protects it from yellowing.
