In this work, stone (“Nero Seta” granite & Sölker marble) and metal merge into a single unit.
The steel sculpture in the center consists of individual wire pins that were connected to each other by targeted welding points and thus unite to form an abstract, human figure. This was drilled into the stone and glued.
Thematically, the sculpture “Time Hole IV” is about numerous myths and legends that surround the caves of the Alps. It is reported… that in some mountains so-called time holes exist, in which time passes faster or slower than elsewhere. The round opening symbolizes a gateway to unknown worlds, a gateway for the viewer's imagination.
The surface of the stone is flamed on the front and polished on the sides. The steel sculpture was sealed with matt clear varnish to prevent the steel from oxidizing.
« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
Manfred Hellweger is an Austrian sculptor whose works are already represented by collectors worldwide. He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements. Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores. Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
