About this artwork
The term "counterpoint" in music refers to the combination of two or more independent but harmonically related melodic lines. In the visual context, this title suggests a complex and dynamic relationship between the different shapes and tones. It is as if the red shapes were visual "melodies" that interact with each other, creating an abstract rhythm and harmony. The different shades of red, from the lightest and brightest to the darkest and almost… transparent, suggest the application of layers of color. This creates an effect of glazing and depth, giving the impression that some shapes are closer or further away in the pictorial space.
« "Every sign traced, and sound emitted by me, always arouses the same amazement and emotions as if all this were for the first time." »
