About this artwork
This piece is in the current summer exhibition at Artists on Market, and available through the gallery.
I wanted to create the feeling of being surrounded by lush grass and earth-- life. I was trying to capture the feeling of being immersed in an environment, surrounded by it, where a sort of zen comes over you, but also a joy.
There is also a bit of an illusion in this painting: are you standing at the bottom, looking up, or are you in the center… of it, engulfed?
It is my hope that the painting evokes the sense of awe and wonder we experience in nature -- the sublime.
