This bronze bas-relief is born from the encounter between the human figure and the geometric language of origami. The forms are constructed through broken planes and angular volumes that evoke the folding of paper, transforming the figure and the boat into a simple and dynamic structure.
The composition suggests a symbolic journey: the figure appears to be steering the vessel through stylized waves, while the presence of the column alludes to a… classical and timeless dimension. The tension between geometric elements and figurative references creates a balance between abstraction and narrative.
The surface of the bronze, with its warm tones and vibrant texture, accentuates the play of light on the inclined planes, making the composition lively and rhythmic.
Antonio Mastrorocco uses bronze, marble, terracotta, resin, wax, and oil on canvas, drawing on extensive training with great masters and decades of artistic teaching. He alternates figurative and abstract with masterful technique, favoring bas-relief and in-the-round, blending architecture, anatomy, and color in harmonious balance. Through dynamic forms, light, and passion, he conveys emotional depth and the message that art and culture can change how we view the world.
