This bronze sculpture, titled "Horse and Rider, the Call," I conceived as a legacy of Plastic Futurism and Constructivism. The composition is balanced, in which the protagonists form a single visual entity through the decomposition of forms into geometric planes, creating a pervasive tension. The lines of force intersect in a frozen movement, like a still. The rider does not dominate the horse but integrates with it; the turning back is a mutual… contrast, breaking the overall linearity, an opening; an approach more mental than descriptive. The result is a position that is neither static nor dynamic; it is a quiet energy yet ready for action. The horse here becomes a symbol of controlled power; the rider, fragmented and abstract, seems an archetypal warrior, a timeless figure.
Antonio Mastrorocco uses bronze, marble, terracotta, resin, wax, and oil on canvas, drawing on extensive training with great masters and decades of artistic teaching. He alternates figurative and abstract with masterful technique, favoring bas-relief and in-the-round, blending architecture, anatomy, and color in harmonious balance. Through dynamic forms, light, and passion, he conveys emotional depth and the message that art and culture can change how we view the world.
