The sculpture "Woman with Scarf" is designed in patinated bronze. It appears as a female head supported only by a knotted scarf, the lower edges of which serve as drapery or architectural support. The head takes on the shape of an ovoid, the neck a truncated cone, and the lower draperies like cylinders. The twisting of the head and the tilt of the neck convey a sense of movement, almost as if the figure were captured in a moment of dance, of momentum,… of poetry. The volumes of the gathered hair and the knot of fabric blend together and communicate, adding a scenographic and theatrical character. There is a balance between the figurative and the abstract: the facial expression is realistic, while the drape fragments and dissolves into simplified, geometric shapes, in a balanced interplay of weights. The face is intense and delicate, yet almost detached from the bodily tension, like a figure looking forward, toward something, and this gives it an enigmatic appearance.
Antonio Mastrorocco uses bronze, marble, terracotta, resin, wax, and oil on canvas, drawing on extensive training with great masters and decades of artistic teaching. He alternates figurative and abstract with masterful technique, favoring bas-relief and in-the-round, blending architecture, anatomy, and color in harmonious balance. Through dynamic forms, light, and passion, he conveys emotional depth and the message that art and culture can change how we view the world.
