About this artwork
Preserved through Botanica Lumen’s original scannography process, The Gathering is designed to be admired from afar and discovered up close, where colour, delicate veining, soft folds, and the fragile architecture of each petal begin to unfold.
This work began with a small group of sweet pea stems, brought together until the flowers seemed less like separate specimens and more like a quiet conversation. Each bloom leans, folds, hides, and reveals… itself differently — creating a sense of closeness, movement, and shared presence.
Up close, the petals reveal marbled pigments, translucent layers, and sculptural folds that feel closer to silk, paper, or miniature architecture than to a conventional flower. Over time, the work continues to reveal itself, rewarding repeated attention.
