About this artwork
This relatively old work, cast in bronze among my first, comes with an integrated base or terrace which at the time seemed to me to enhance the subject, as was common among sculptors in a previous era.
The green patina emphasizes this classic aspect and the pose chosen by the model evoked for me the outfit and bearing of a dancer: hence the title given: "The Dance".

Chantal Molinié uses sculpture, drawing, and wood and stone carving, enriched by her training at Cornell College of Art and workshops in Nantes. She sculpts nudes and busts from live models by applying flattened balls of clay, leaving the surface unsmoothed, to capture the vibrancy of life. Her expressive, vibrant style captures the ephemeral and fragile beauty of humankind. Her works convey a profound desire to preserve and celebrate existence in the face of oblivion and death.
She devoted the year 2025 to the creation of the catalogue raisonné of her sculpted works, which was published in December by Éditions du Livre d'art.
