The barn owl is very distinguishable from other nocturnal birds of prey by the shape of its head, which is somewhat heart-shaped and rather large in relation to its body, and by the very white colour of its chest. Its flight is the most silent of all birds. I placed this sculpture - modelled by me in terracotta using green clay (which after cooking becomes red) and white - inside a box that protects it, thus trying to plastically represent how the… relationship between humans and animals is today completely reversed compared to the situation that characterised the earth until less than a century ago. Humans found themselves faced with a nature that towered over them. Today it is nature that is besieged by man. A wooden box, a plexiglass case or a glass vase in my works often isolate my animals, a bit like in the dioramas of Natural History Museums.
« In my design, there has always been an idea of three-dimensionality which then naturally became the design of three-dimensional objects. »
