The orangutan is an anthropomorphic ape with long and powerful arms that lives in the forests of Borneo and Sumatra, the largest islands of Indonesia. Orangutang is an abbreviation and comes from the union of two Malay words meaning "man" and "forest". In fact, the orangutan lives in the thick of the forests which fortunately still cover most of the areas in which they live. An existence therefore essentially arboreal. Despite this, they are among… the animals most in danger of extinction given that their habitat is increasingly threatened by human activities that take away more and more forest areas from them to cultivate them. It therefore seems natural that this sculpture shows him attached to a tree, which is actually a piece of trunk collected by the author and not modified except by treating it with a patina that preserves it, making it unassailable by moths or other erosive factors.
« In my design, there has always been an idea of three-dimensionality which then naturally became the design of three-dimensional objects. »
