About this artwork
The eagle owl is the largest of the nocturnal birds of prey with a wingspan of up to 2.0 meters. Its flight is completely silent due to its very soft feathers. It can rotate its head 270° and this allows it to see what is behind its shoulders, something that would be impossible given the rigidly frontal position of its eyes. I have placed this animal in a box that protects it, modeled by me in terracotta using green clay (which after cooking becomes…
red) and white, thus trying to plastically represent how the relationship between humans and animals is today completely reversed compared to the situation that characterized the earth until less than a century ago. Humans found themselves facing a nature that dominated them. Today it is nature that is besieged by man. A wooden box, a plexiglass case or a glass vase in my works often isolate them, a bit like in the dioramas of Natural History Museums.

Daniele Nannini is an experienced sculptor and designer based in Italy whose works have been exhibited nationally and in Germany. In addition, his pieces are featured in publications such as Zoom Magazine, LIBER, etc. Begining his career as an illustrator for children's books, Nannini's drawings have always emphasized volumes. He now creates with clay, with a geometric measure in mind.
