About this artwork
This small-format work pays homage to the composer Philip Glass, whose music has long been a constant presence in my life. His repetitive, melancholic motifs evoke a profound, almost visceral emotion within me. In painting this portrait, I sought to capture this feeling of inner intimacy, this hovering between lucidity, fragility, and contemplation.
Glass's music always brings me back to the atmosphere of the film The Hours, the precise details… of which I no longer remember, but whose existential tone left a lasting impression on me. This painting captures that resonance: a suspended moment, a silent presence, like an echo of all the emotions that his music evokes.
Through this work, I explore how a face can become the mirror of a personal feeling — a bridge between music, cinema and my own sensitivity.
