About this artwork
This oil portrait depicts a woman I knew during a particularly difficult period in her life. What struck me most about her was her inner strength—a calm, dignified, almost radiant strength despite the ordeal she was going through.
In painting her face, I wanted to convey this profound beauty that depends neither on the body nor on circumstances. Each brushstroke seeks to make visible her determination, her lucidity, and that inner light that nothing… seemed able to extinguish.
The muted tones and soft texture of the skin reflect this resilient presence. For me, this portrait is above all a tribute to a form of inner courage: a beauty that comes from within and transforms everything.
