About this artwork
After the Shower is part of a period when I was working intensely through self-portraiture. It was a way of exploring not only technique, but also my own presence — and all the versions of myself that seemed to appear from one day to the next.
Here, I wanted to give myself an additional challenge: to study the behavior of water on the skin, how it clings, glides, reflects light, or transforms the contours of the face. It's a demanding exercise… that makes the painting even more vibrant and unpredictable.
The aim was not just to represent a body or a moment, but to capture that feeling of freshness, fragility and immediate truth that follows a shower.
This painting also revealed to me how much a face can change from one self-portrait to another — as if one carried within oneself a multitude of appearances, nuances, versions of oneself.
