In the dense riparian woodland of Cornwall Hill, lichen-draped trunks and reaching winter branches resolve into something unexpectedly vertical — a gothic spire ascending from the forest floor. In "Spire", the latent architecture of the natural world declares itself without apology. The muted grey-greens of moss and bark, the skeletal precision of leafless limbs, the arch that forms unbidden at the heart of the composition… — none of this was arranged. It was always there, waiting for the eye that knew how to be still. A cathedral built by no human hand, in a forest that asks nothing of us except attention.
