About this artwork
Made of beech and presented on a metal base of 30 x 30 cm, this unique piece was sculpted and then passed over to the flame.
The multiple small openings with which it is strewn are as many windows through which light passes. Depending on the lighting or the time of day, the full and empty parts of this sculpture draw on the floor or the walls, a mosaic of light and shadow.
It is also a tactile work, made to be touched, caressed.
His presence… is gentle and benevolent, serene.

« Trying to reach the essential, in all its simplicity, humility and authenticity. Attempt to touch my own authenticity. »
Whether painting, sculpting or writing, Marc Laffolay strives for a direct, meditative and impulsive gesture.
He strives to banish any intervention of the mind, to privilege the spontaneous act, sincerity, without conscious reference to fashions and other trends.
For him, these are the conditions of authenticity.
