About this artwork
In this watercolor, I wanted to capture the tranquil atmosphere of an afternoon in Benimaclet, one of Valencia's most distinctive neighborhoods. I was interested in reflecting that everyday moment when the city seems to pause, as the warm afternoon light envelops the architecture and the people strolling through the square. The church becomes the visual focal point of the scene: its clock tower, simple facade, and the cross above the entrance set…

I worked on the piece using a loose watercolor technique, employing transparencies, gradients, and light brushstrokes to build the atmosphere. Blue and violet tones dominate the upper part of the painting, lending depth and serenity to the sky and the building's shadows, while the warm yellow and ochre tones at the base evoke the light of the setting sun illuminating the plaza.
