The eggshell serves as mechanical protection for the egg and prevents it from drying out.
In many original marine animals and also in humans, the egg consists only of the
Egg cell. Eggshell and egg thus form a closed system for the development of a living organism.

The eggshell was photographed one last time on black and white film before it was dissolved (pulverized) and mixed with a photographic emulsion after pulverization.
The light-sensitive… emulsion was applied to the paper support and coated with the
exposed to a previously taken negative and then developed and fixed.

Paul Gross’ photographs have been extensively exhibited in both Germany and Japan. Within his art, he explores and expands the limits of classic photography. The relationship between photography and object plays an important role in all of Gross’ work. Using various techniques and equipment, including movement and exposure time, objects in his pieces can appear abstract and bizarre. Thereby the object loses its function as a “memory aid”, blurring the definition and limitations of the medium.
