About this artwork
The composition is centered but unstable.
At the center, an iconic core coalesces: the shape of the dice, partially incorporated into the material, emerges as a figurative residue within an informal field. It is not a clear representation, but a presence that surfaces and dissolves. Around it, the pictorial gesture constructs a swirling, almost circular dynamic, which directs attention toward the fulcrum. The dice introduce a powerful symbolic element:… chance. However, the allusion to the Fibonacci sequence—a natural mathematical order, a principle of organic growth—reverses the dimension of pure chance. The work thus finds itself in a dialectical tension.
« If we assign a place to art by designating it a space in which it must act, then we run the risk of rendering it harmless. Art must be subversive. -Anselm Kiefer »
Pietro Daresta is an experienced artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in France, the United Arab Emirates, and Monaco. His works explore the themes of humanity and its frailties, the passage of time, and the observation of the universe, where everything is destined to change. In Daresta's most recent compositions, he has developed a more personal artisitc approach, moving from the sphere of minimalism and the conceptual towards the informal.
