About this artwork
Island Just for You (16), an original oil painting created entirely with palette knives. This piece is part of my Ataraxia series, where I explore serene calmness through expressive, textured island landscapes. Since 2018, I’ve embraced working solely with knives, layering thick oil paint to bring each small island to life — a quiet refuge drifting between sky and sea.
These intimate oil paintings offer collectors a pause to find calm in their everyday… spaces. Whether you live in a bustling city or a peaceful coastal town, each island is meant to be a personal sanctuary, a gentle escape through art. The Ataraxia series forms the foundation of my ongoing Ipseity collection, which delves deeper into identity and selfhood using atmospheric landscapes.. Owning one of these remaining Ataraxia islands means holding a moment of my artistic evolution. Presented framed under glass in a sleek black floating frame, elevated gently from its backing to enhance its quiet, contemporary presence.

In his seventh decade, Venafro has arrived at Ipseity, absolute selfhood, hard-earned and uncompromising. Drawing from a life in finance before the knife became his primary language, he brings something rare to the canvas. The story he is painting is his emotion. And yours, to discover.
