I created this work as a tribute to the strength and nobility of the horse, using only recycled materials: steel, titanium, sand and marble dust.
I wanted to highlight the animal's profile, almost as if it were rising from the earth: the warm background recalls the color of the soil, while the metal parts define the mane and muscles with a cool, vibrant light. Each metal "thread" was positioned individually to suggest the movement of the fur and… mane, as if the horse were captured in a moment of quiet pride.
Sand and marble dust create areas of texture and shadow, lending volume to the muzzle and neck and transforming the surface into a sort of bas-relief. The contrast between the elegant and classic golden frame and the horse's body made of industrial waste is intentional: I want to bring together beauty and waste, reminding us that even what we consider waste can be reborn in a new and precious form.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
