About this artwork

Sometimes we wonder why a sculpture has one colour or another. Is it a coincidence, is it an emotion? There are many words and ideas that can give us a rational explanation. It just so happens that this series is quite outside of rationality... it is the feeling, the emotion, the intuition that has led us to paint, to cover its skin with a tone from the sky, from the sea... from freshness. That is the closest idea... something fresh, light, simple and deep at the same time. It is a dynamic balance.

Teo San Jose is an award-winning Spanish sculptor whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy, the United Kingdom, France and America. Specializing in monumental sculpture, he seeks to create ‘spaces of serenity’ within each viewer. San Jose's abstract steel pieces are minimalistic in nature. The simplicity and movement conveyed within his compositions are inspired by Chinese and Japanese calligraphy.
